Airport expansion in Memmingen has begun

The extensive constructions at Memmingen Airport recently started. In the next few months the runway will be extended from 30 to 45 meters. Most work is done at night so the airport can continue operation after 06:00 AM. “The main work starts in September,” explains airports CEO Ralf Schmid. The airport will be closed from September 17th to September 30th for asphalting work. The airline Ryanair has canceled all connections to and from Memmingen for these two weeks, Wizz Air and some charter flights will shift their flights to other airports.

In addition to the renovation of the runway, the luggage hall will also be expanded. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
