Wizz Air with new route to Catania

Sicily wants to be discovered. Experts agree that the largest island in the Mediterranean offers far more than sun, sand and temples. From the end of October Wizz Air will be offering twice a week flights from Memmingen to Catania on the east coast. Memmingen Airport thus expands its existing range of services in Sicily.

The island, which is over 25,000 square kilometers in size, has been on the Memmingen flight plan for a long time. Ryanair flies to the capital Palermo twice a week. “The new route to Catania is the ideal addition to the existing program,” explains Airport Sales Manager Marcel Schütz. “Exciting round trips between Palermo in the northwest and Catania are easily possible.” Especially the southeast of the island with the highlight Syracuse fascinates with its breathtaking landscape and very beautiful cities.

At Memmingen Airport, attention is also being paid to the fact that the airline Wizz Air, which until now was the largest low-cost provider in Eastern Europe primarily served destinations in this region, is now adding a connection in Western Europe. “That shows what potential Wizz Air sees in Memmingen and that the potential of the location has not yet been exhausted,” explains Marcel Schütz. The new connection, which was offered by TUIfly years ago and has been on the wish lists of many Memmingen passengers since then, also extends the offer for those who want to visit friends and relatives in both countries.

From October 28th, Wizz Air will be flying from Memmingen to Catania on Wednesdays and Sundays. Ryanair’s Palermo flights operate on Thursday and Sunday. Tickets to Catania can already be booked online at
