How do I purchase a flight ticket?

Flight tickets can be purchased via the official website of Memmingen Airport. You also have the option of booking your flights online directly with the airline. Alternatively, you can purchase your flight tickets directly on site at the Allgate Service Desk.
Please note: Air fares are controlled variably by the airlines and cannot be influenced by the airport in any way.

How many hours before the flight should I be at the airport?

To ensure that everything runs smoothly, we recommend that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight. You should arrive at your gate at least 40 minutes before departure.

When should I check-in?

To avoid a service charge for check-in, it is advisable to check in online beforehand. You can then print out your boarding pass. Please check with your airline beforehand about deadlines and lead times.

When do the check-in counters and the security check open?

The security checkpoint opens two hours before the scheduled departure time.

The check-in counter opens two hours before the flight and usually closes 40 minutes before departure.

Are there lockers at Memmingen Airport?

There is no exchange office at Memmingen Airport.

Can I smoke at Memmingen Airport?

Smoking is only permitted in the designated areas. In the security area you will find the smoking zone in the beer garden. After passport control, you have the option of smoking in our smoking cabin.

The gate usually closes 15 minutes before the flight.

Where can I get my VAT refunded?

If you are resident outside the EU, you can get a refund of a portion of the VAT you have paid at the information desk. Only forms from Global Blue Germany with a customs stamp that is no more than four years old will be processed.

What special rules apply to the flight to Tel Aviv?

Check-in for flights to Tel Aviv opens  2 hours and 30 minutes before departure.
Travellers to Israel are subject to a higher standard of control. Please allow extra time for security and passport control.
Please note: Due to the routing at Memmingen Airport, there is no possibility for travellers to Tel Aviv to shop in our duty-free shop.

Is there a duty-free shop at Memmingen Airport?

Yes, the duty-free shop is open throughout the day.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes, our duty-free shop accepts all common means of payment. We also accept USD, CHF and GBP banknotes.

Can duty-free articles be carried in hand baggage?

Yes. In addition to hand baggage, each airline generally allows you to take one shopping bag from the shop per passenger on board free of charge. Passengers with Pobeda are allowed to take an unlimited number of specific shopping bags.

What parking facilities are available at Memmingen Airport?

Our parking spaces are located in the immediate vicinity of the terminal. It is best to book your parking space online on our website well in advance, as parking space availability can be limited, especially during holiday periods. Where do I park as a pick-up and drop-off person?

The most cost-effective parking for pick-ups and drop-offs is in P1 directly in front of the terminal. The first 10 minutes are free of charge.

Where can I park barrier-free?

You can park directly in front of the terminal in the marked areas for 10 minutes free of charge. Several parking spaces are currently specially marked for guests with limited mobility in the P1 car park near the terminal, as well as in P2, P3, P11 and Airparks.

Can I borrow a wheelchair?

Wheelchairs can be borrowed in the terminal. Please contact the information desk.

Where do I register the need for care?

In order to ensure a smooth process, early registration with your airline is important. Please state the nature of your disability and the extent of care required when booking online or at the travel agency, at the latest when collecting your ticket. The airport and airline staff will be happy to help you. For departing passengers, the escort to the gate can also be provided by relatives if desired. Please contact the information desk in this regard.

Can I carry baby food in my hand baggage?

Yes, please remove the baby food from the luggage before the security check and place it separately in the containers provided, in the same way as the liquids in your hand luggage.

Where can I change the wipers of my child?

You will find changing tables in the disabled toilets.

Can I take the pram with me?

Yes. It is important to label the pushchair at the check-in counter.

Are underage children allowed to travel alone?

Please check with your airline.

What counts as hand luggage?

Hand luggage usually consists of only one small piece of luggage that can be taken into the aircraft cabin. As airlines specify different dimensions, please check with your airline before departure.

What liquids may be carried in hand luggage?

Containers of liquids carried in hand luggage must not exceed 100ml in capacity and must be placed in a transparent, resealable bag with a maximum capacity of 1l. This includes jelly-like and spreadable consistencies (e.g. honey, jam, Nutella). Only one clear bag may be carried per person. Medicines are excluded from this regulation. What is bulky baggage?

If your baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance in terms of number of items, weight or size, you can check it in at the bulky baggage counter for an additional fee. Please check with the respective airline before booking whether and under what conditions you can check in your bulky and/or excess baggage.

Does it cost more to check in bulky baggage?

Yes, please check the prices with your airline.

Is the bulky baggage registered?

Yes, please check in at the check-in counter.

What do I have to bear in mind when transporting bicycles?

Bicycles may only be transported in cardboard boxes, bicycle cases or bicycle trolleys. Bicycles wrapped in foil only may not be loaded.

What are dangerous goods?

In order to prevent hazards to air traffic, the carriage of dangerous goods is generally prohibited.

EU information of  dangerous goods

In case you accidentally carry an item classified as dangerous, you can have it returned by post to yourself or to relatives, neighbours, etc. for a fee of €5 within Germany (with a weight of up to 500g) . Dangerous goods or lighters as well as liquids may not be sent.

Can I stay overnight at the airport?

No. Our opening hours depend on our flight operations. The airport is closed at night.
