From Memmingerberg airbase to Bavaria’s third commercial airport. Memmingen Airport can look back on a long history.
Several heavy bombing raids in the last two years of the war destroy the airport infrastructure.
The Americans, as the occupying power, declared the airbase site a training ground for military aircraft. The infrastructure was rebuilt in 1955.

Passengers with reduced mobility can also start their journey easily and with maximum convenience at Memmingen Airport. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, it is important to register with your airline in good time. Please state the nature of your disability and the scope of service required when booking online or at the travel agency, but at the latest when collecting your ticket. All facilities for the disabled are labelled with the familiar symbol. The arrivals and departures areas in the passenger terminal are equipped for the disabled. All facilities are also easily accessible for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs from Memmingen-based medical supply retailer, Gerstberger, are available for use free of charge in the terminal.

Passenger numbers at Memmingen Airport have risen sharply in recent years. Simultaneously, car traffic to the airport and the demand for parking spaces has grown considerably. We, therefore, recommend that all holiday and business travellers book a parking space online in advance. The availability of parking spaces is particularly limited during holiday periods. The special car park P1/Kiss & Fly directly opposite the terminal is reserved for those dropping off and picking up passengers. This is ideal for short stops for boarding and alighting and loading and unloading. 10 minutes parking is free in this area.
