Several heavy bombing raids in the last two years of the war destroy the airport infrastructure.
The Americans, as the occupying power, declared the airbase site a training ground for military aircraft. The infrastructure was rebuilt in 1955.

To ensure that everything runs smoothly, it is important to register with your airline in good time. Please state the nature of your disability and the scope of service required when booking online or at the travel agency, but at the latest when collecting your ticket. All facilities for the disabled are labelled with the familiar symbol. The arrivals and departures areas in the passenger terminal are equipped for the disabled. All facilities are also easily accessible for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs from Memmingen-based medical supply retailer, Gerstberger, are available for use free of charge in the terminal.

Passenger numbers at Memmingen Airport have risen sharply in recent years. Simultaneously, car traffic to the airport and the demand for parking spaces has grown considerably. The special car park P1/Kiss & Fly directly opposite the terminal is reserved for those dropping off and picking up passengers. Memmingen Airport is located approx. 6 km from Memmingen city centre. It can be reached via the A7 Ulm/Kempten motorway and the A96 Munich/Lindau motorway. The quickest route to the airport is via the Memmingen Ost motorway exit on the A96.
