From November onwards with Wizz Air to Plovdiv

From November onwards, business travellers from southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be able to reach their business partners, customers and branch offices in southern Bulgaria just as quickly and non-stop from Memmingen as passengers visiting friends and relatives or commuting to work. Wizz Air is set to connect southern Germany’s largest low-cost airport with Plovdiv, the country’s second largest city.

The city, which has a population of around 350,000, is one of the country’s most important industrial centres alongside Sofia. By far the largest employer in Plovdiv is the German company, Liebherr, which has its roots in Kirchdorf an der Iller in the district of Biberach and today operates on an international scale. “For many companies in our region, the new flight connection now offers a quick and short route to subsidiaries and business partners in southern Bulgaria,” explains Airport Sales Manager, Marcel Schütz. The Plovdiv International Fair is also an important economic driver of growth in the region. The city is also one of the country’s most important transport hubs. From 6 November, there will be two non-stop flights a week – on Tuesday and Saturday – from Memmingen to Plovdiv.
