The end of the pandemic is approaching – and the topic of travelling is inching back into focus. In the course of this development, airlines are keen to expand their services. And so there are now two new flight connections to Memmingen Airport: From November, Ryanair will be flying to Billund in Denmark and to the Latvian capital Riga.Famous for its Art Nouveau buildings and well-preserved historic town, the old Hanseatic city of Riga is considered the country’s political, economic and cultural centre. With around 700,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the Baltic region. Riga is the ideal starting point for a round trip through the three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Culture and history, unspoilt natural landscapes and the sandy beaches of the Baltic Sea characterise this beautiful region. From 1 November, Ryanair will connect Memmingen with Riga non-stop on Mondays and Fridays.
One day later, Billund will be on the flight schedule for the first time. The Danish city, which Ryanair flies to every Tuesday and Saturday, has the country’s second largest airport, Billund Airport. The biggest tourist attraction is the internationally renowned Legoland theme park. However, the proximity to the North- and Baltic Seas also makes the South Jutland region a popular tourist destination.
“Both new routes promise attractive travel options for holidaymakers from our region,” explains Airport Sales Manager, Marcel Schütz. “But these can also help to attract new groups of guests to the Allgäu and its neighbours.” The launch in November will open up amazing new opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts from Denmark and Latvia alike. In summer, holiday trips can be expected in both directions. “Riga and Billund are hugely enticing additions to our tourism offering,” emphasises Schütz.
