Memmingen Airport is expecting the sunniest winter in its history. Never before has the airport been able to offer so many sunny destinations during the cold season as in the upcoming winter flight schedule. The list of destinations where swimming trunks and bikinis are “top-of-the-list” items is being extended by three new attractive holiday destinations: Paphos on Cyprus, Lamezia Terme in southern Italy and Las Palmas on Gran Canaria; these will be served by Ryanair from Memmingen from the autumn. Together with other new destinations in northern and eastern Europe, southern Germany’s largest low-cost airport offers an interesting blend of travel destinations. After autumn has long since arrived in Germany, Memmingen Airport will be celebrating three brand new additions: On 31 October, the new Ryanair connection to Lamezia Terme in southern Italy will be taking off. The town in Calabria boasts both beach and mountains, as well as beneficial healing springs. Lamezia Terme is always on the flight schedule on Wednesdays and Sundays. And just one day later, on 1 November, we will be travelling to Paphos in Cyprus for the first time. There are flights to the island on Monday and Friday. Ryanair also connects Memmingen non-stop with Las Palmas on Gran Canaria twice a week – on Tuesday and Saturday. We get the ball rolling on 2 November. With Tenerife, which is also on the flight schedule of Ryanair, and Fuerteventura – which is served by the airline Corendon – it is now the third destination on the Canary Islands. Pack your swimming trunks for flights taking off from Memmingen to Hurghada in Egypt, Mallorca, Palermo, Thessaloniki, Alicante, Malaga, Varna and Larnaca on Cyprus.“This winter, however, it’s not just sun-seekers and beach holidaymakers who will get their money’s worth,” explains Airport Sales Manager, Marcel Schütz. “Our network of routes offers a fantastically broad mix of travel options.” Ryanair, Wizz Air & Corendon together cover well over 40 current flight connections throughout Europe, enabling holidaymakers, business travellers, employees, students, relatives and friends to travel quickly, safely and cost-effectively.
New: Riga, Billund and Lappeenranta
From the autumn, new routes will also be taking passengers to Billund in Denmark, Lappeenranta in Finland and the Latvian capital Riga, which is particularly famous for its Art Nouveau buildings and well-preserved historic town. Riga – the first flight will be taking off on 29 October – is also an ideal starting point for a round trip through the three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Billund will also be a new addition to the flight schedule from 30 October. The city’s biggest tourist attraction is the internationally renowned Legoland theme park. However, the proximity to the North- and Baltic Seas also makes the South Jutland region a popular tourist destination. Further north lies the city of Lappeenranta, which has a population of approximately 70,000 and will be served by Ryanair for the first time from 2 November. It is located on Lake Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland. At around 200 kilometres from Helsinki and St Petersburg, it is the second most popular destination in Finland for foreign tourists. An overview of all destinations can be found at www.memmingen-airport.de/flugziele.Memmingen Airport continues to offer an extensive range of test flights.
